Project teams are teams within the university that are composed entirely of students. In project teams, students produce a prototype vehicle and participate in competitions or carry out projects. In addition to encouraging scientific studies, project teams also play an important role in training more qualified graduates for the sector.
ESTU Racing Team was founded in 2022 by several engineering students at Eskişehir Technical University and has been participating in one of the most prestigious engineering competitions held in 22 different countries every year, Formula Student. Between August 7th and 12th, 2023, they made history by becoming the first and only Turkish Formula Student team to participate in the Formula Student Czech Republic competition in the internal combustion engine category, producing a racing car in their debut year. With a team of 110 members from 6 different engineering faculties, ESTU Racing has been divided into 4 different sub-teams to continue their work, aiming to produce both internal combustion engine and electric open cockpit Formula Student cars within 2 years.
Competing in the prototype hydrogen category at the Shell Eco-marathon Europe, one of the most prestigious races in Europe, this vehicle uses only hydrogen gas as fuel. This vehicle, which ranked 3rd in Europe in 2022 with 378 km/m^3 range data, achieved its best range in 2023 with a of 440 km/m^3.
